I started playing Piano at a very early age and I have been a working Musician for over 20 years. I always loved the sound of Hammond and always did my best to recreate it with varying degrees of success! Almost immediately after starting lessons with Frank I had those ‘lightbulb’ moments when I said out loud ‘ah that’s how they do that!’

Frank is a great teacher, a genuine Hammond specialist that is true to the style and traditions of his heroes such as Smith and McGriff and an overall nice guy too! He has a patient teaching style and has created a series of bespoke exercises/tunes with real tangible and practical outcomes.

I really look forward to my lessons and despite being crazy busy with my own teaching business I make a point to schedule a lesson as it not only progresses my Hammond playing but it is an hour of ‘escapism’ from my busy schedule! Taking lessons with Frank at HammondLessons.com has been the best decision I have made during lockdown!

Frank is truly a master of the Hammond organ and the blues, I have been playing organ for years but I am now beginning to use the organ as a whole orchestra thanks to Franks great lessons

Frank has expanded my musical vocabulary of chords, phrases and styles. He helps me understand not only “what” and “how” to play, but also why, when and where to play something.

In addition to being a fantastic player, Frank is a great listener, and a very patient, encouraging teacher. He has a wealth of knowledge – from the “back catalogue” of historical and present Hammond greats, to general music theory and composition, to modern multimedia technology. Most importantly, he methodically imparts his knowledge without overwhelming the student.

The value Frank delivers far exceeds the cost of his lessons. I highly recommend anyone who wants to progress in their musical journey to get in touch with Frank immediately. This is a golden opportunity!”

Frank has been my mentor for several years now, teaching me step by step to learn the Hammond blues language, timing and groove. As a student from the very beginning, I am proud of the way in which he has set up his online Hammond lessons practice and shares his knowledge and skills to an ever-growing group of Hammond players.

I have attempted to take keyboard lessons several times throughout my adolescent and adult life. None of the teaching methods involved would seem to spark my flame and satisfy my impatient soul enough to make me sincerely want to take on the struggle. Frank’s hands-on, fun-first approach – sprinkled with some deeper analysis where appropriate and helpful – really makes the difference. He helps me to help myself become a better player.

I found Frank through some of his videos online, most memorably his tribute to Ray Charles. I enjoyed his playing style and was pleasantrly surprised when he started offering lessons.I was initially anxious about taking Hammond lessons because I had never played organ before and thought I’d be too much of a beginner. Frank is…..awesome! He put me at ease and I look forward to our lessons and time together which are fun and his patience with this beginner keep me relaxed. I’ve seen a great improvement in my playing and I find his step-by-step approach really helpful as I can see progress and perhaps more importantly,  I become more and more relaxed when playing Hammond.
I highly recommend him – Just get started!

I call this the "Blues Clave". Something I always fall back on when playing a shuffle. So whenever I stop playing melodies I tend to go back to this or a variation of this. #hammondlessons #hammondskpro #bluesinf ...

I've started writing down left hand bass lines and of course I had to start with Jimmy McGriff. There's a lot more to do but here's one for free. Let me know in a PM if you want the score to take a closer look and I'll e-mail it to you!

By the way, my lessons are not just for the more experienced players. They are for beginners too. Starting from scratch with the fundamentals: The Blues!

The Green Screen came in the mail today. Setup is almost ready to go now. Some lighting to fix and I need a stylist, but I'm ready. You all need Hammond lessons and you know it! ;-).

The organ you are hearing here is Logic's own "Vintage Organ". Sounds pretty good to me and has little to no latency. I thought I heared it in a @larrygoldings video (not sure ) and decided to give it a try, wow!..

If you’re looking for Hammond lessons, let me know and follow @hammondlessons or take a peek over at hammondlessons.com .

I teach the language of the (hammond) blues which is the foundation of all I play, whether it’s Funk, Soul, Jazz or Pop. I talk about timing, phrasing, melody, pulse, harmony, II-V-I progressions, scales , playing left hand bass, your fav organ players (and mine ) and a lot more Hammond related.

Now this was fun! What not to do when making a mistake while playing is to stop and say F*CK! Unless it's "F*CK, that was awesome!!" or wait until the teacher says "wow, great improv!"

I finally made the switch to Zoom, I worked with Skype since the beginning, with all its quicks and bad quality audio. I was a bit hesitant to use Zoom, but decided to take the plunge. It works amazingly well. Audio quality is better than Skype, and lots of possibilities. So, for those that are still in doubt, like I was, DO IT! :-). Stereo audio too and easier setup with my audio interface although that could be easier still I think.

A little snippet of information for y'all: The alleged Green Onions drawbar settings. I've seen Booker T himself use 888800000 as well on numerous occasions (in vids), so, I guess it depends a bit on the organ or the moment.

Little disclaimer: I may play this a little different than the master himself.

If you like this vid, leave me a like and/or a comment below and check our www.hammondlessons.com for more information.

The ONLY thing Corona has done for me is motivate me to start teaching and slowly but surely develop my own method for doing so. Online lessons are a lot of fun AND it gives me the opportunity the meet people from all over the world, even though it's 'online'. I'm not gonna thank bloody Corona, but it is something that I maybe would not have challenged myself to do if not for this whole darn crisis. At the momentI have students from Canada, the US, Germany, Spain, the UK and the Netherlands. Of course everybody is welcome so do you speak english and a passion for Hammond organ AND you're looking for lessons? Let me know!

A follow on @hammondlessons is appreciated!

I am still just messing around with screencompositions for my lessons, but while doing so I thought I might as well share some snippets of information for those interested. This is one of my most used ending chords when playing the (jazz)blues. In this case, in the key of G.

As I said yesterday I am messing around with screen layouts for my lessons. Sometimes this leads to pure ' magic ' with hands disappearing and such:). The drawbars work though! The progressions I sort of play here are Larry Goldings progressions by the way.

I've been messing with my #manycam screen composition to get a good combination of certain elements in my Skype / Zoom display for my students. When the organ you teach on doesn't look like a Hammond but you still want that look you have to get creative... I combined the overhead camera with some elements of @ikmultimedia 's B3X plugin. It sounds good, and this way my lessons look good too and it still shows real hands :)... Hey, I got plenty of time 'on my hands' anyway .. My hands disappear wheh I change drawbar settings, like magic, BUT the drawbars move anyway! How cool is that :)...
